January Cooking Inspiration

This month I’m sharing some of my one-pot faves.
Soups, stews, curries, and more are a low effort, healthy, and easy way to nourish yourself this month.

Winter Produce Highlight: Citrus

I love winter because that’s when citrus fruits truly shine. From sweet oranges to tangerines to grapefruit to pomelos, winter citrus is at peak flavor and so versatile.

I love slicing and dehydrating it for fun snacks and mocktail or cocktail garnishes, enjoying it as a pre- or post-workout bite, dipping it in dark chocolate for a simple treat, squeezing or tossing right into a citrus based smoothie, or sectioning it and tossing it into some of my favorite salads.

Sumo oranges are my go-to, super juicy, easy to peel, and perfect for everyday snacking.

Welcoming A Gentle Start To The New Year

Here’s my New Year’s resolution hot take: a new year doesn’t have to come with big resets or drastic changes.

January can be a quieter time for settling into routines, cooking simple, nourishing meals, and focusing on what feels supportive right now.

I like to treat this time as an opportunity to choose consistency over perfection and comfort over overwhelm.

A Little Life Update 💛

Little Eleanor arrived on 12/16/2025, and Jacob and I rang in the new year with baby burps, coos, dirty diapers, and lots and lots of feedings.

As I focus on nourishing both my baby and myself during these early weeks, I hope you’re finding a gentle, supportive start to 2026 as well.

Happy New Year!

Warmly,
Sarah Harper, MS, RD
